Family On Mission

As a newcomer to the area, I’m really enjoying the beautiful landscape God has created here in and around Traverse City.  Summer was wonderful, with lakes and the bay to enjoy.  Fall’s bold colors and cooler temperatures are refreshing.  Winter is coming, and it will soon be time to pull out the skis!  I’m so ready!

Another great blessing I’m enjoying is our very gifted music team.  I’m so appreciative of the talent that runs deep, and the strong commitment to excellence.  At the same time, there’s a very inviting, family feel among the team.  I’ve felt that warm welcome over the past few months; I’ve also witnessed it as our team frequently hosts guest musicians, and welcomes new members. There’s a sense of belonging that seems to envelop everyone that’s a part of it.  That’s not true of all churches, but it is here, and it makes such a difference.  We are, indeed, part of a family on mission.

Change has swept through the arts department, just as it has in all other areas of the church. There are changed procedures, new songs, and different ways of operating.  However, I’m thankful that the sense of family remains.

Our team is also beginning to lead worship in Breakaway and Edge.  The heart of this team is to serve, and the opportunity to be of use in the area of youth ministry has been received with anticipation and open arms.

I thank God for this team and for the opportunity to be a family on mission together.
