Quiet Time

Summer is in the air peeps! In addition, it is hard to believe this week wraps up the last week of school for the 2016/17 school year! If you are like me, you may have found yourself running like crazy from concerts, to awards, to ceremonies, to sports activities and so forth. The last few weeks of school are always madness in my house and I actually found myself bartering with my children the other night about being too tired to pray.

It happens, even to the best of us, but I have four cute little minions that often times do not let me off the hook so easily. I have never been a good prayer warrior, I lack the attention and focus, and to be honest quiet time is not my favorite time. But when our church family took on the 30 day prayer challenge it not only changed us, but I started to find that our new evening routine of circling up in the boys room as a family sharing our "yay’s" and "oy vey’s" was so precious and meaningful to me. To hear a 5 year old pray a heartfelt prayer lifting up his brothers and sisters prayers will leave you speechless and teary, or at least it did me.

I know it’s so easy to get sucked in to the business of this world, but try your hardest to find that time, quiet your soul, and lean into your Father that is patiently yet eagerly waiting and longing to hear his child’s heart! Prayer time has become a favorite in our house. Around the table to bedtime circle up, our four will actually squabble with each other over whose turn it is to pray! I long for my kid’s to have that same deep personal relationship I found as a young teen with our heavenly Father, but it takes me leading the example and the way even when I’m tired finding that time and energy to build that foundation. Therefore, I am going to give it my best shot! Life is too short; we only have these littles under our wings for so long fellow parents, so let us do our best to do it well!
