A Taste

Often I think about how privileged we are to live in this beautiful area of northern Michigan. We have the beautiful waters of Lake Michigan surrounding us along with many beautiful streams, lakes, and dunes. Every season of the year has its own unique look and is filled with exciting activities and things to do. As I think about this, I realize that God's word tells us that all of this that we enjoy is nothing compared to what he has in store for us as his children. The Bible tells us,

“No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him.” 1 Corinthians 2:9

We also find in the book of Revelations a little more insight into the beauty and wonder of what God is creating for his people.

“Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the old heaven and the old earth had disappeared. And the sea was also gone. And I saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven like a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. I heard a loud shout from the throne, saying, ‘Look, God's home is now among his people! He will live with them and they will be his people. God himself will be with them. He will wipe every tear from their eyes and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever.’” Revelation 21:1-4

As we read in the description, what we will see is beyond our comprehension. The city of crystal clear gold with precious stones and pearls that no man has ever seen.  Heaven is a beautiful place, filled with God's glory and grace.

Yes, I look forward to being there someday, but in the meantime I will enjoy the small taste that we are blessed with here.
